“To We believe in the adage, “United we Stand, Divided we Fall.”

In order to effectively achieve our goals, our overarching strategy has been networking and partnership-building. We implement our six core programs in seven districts in Malawi through our partner Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs). Our partnership takes into consideration that CRIDOC does not have capacity to roll out activities in these communities on its own. As such, we sign Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) to guide our operations as follows:

1. Lilongwe
Our secretariat is based Lilongwe, and we have a pool of volunteers to design and coordonate various programs implemented in seven districts including Lilongwe itself.
The volunteers are involved in running school clubs, carrying out research, documentation of resources at our Centre, fundraising activities, provision of youth-friendly health information and services, etc.

2. Mchinji
We network with various CBOs within Mchinji to carry out a number of activities through youthful volunteers. The volunteers have established and run school clubs in T/As Ntanja, Dambe and Nkando.

3. Kasungu
We have partnered with the Youth Initiative for Sustainable Rural Development (YISURD), a local non-profit making youth organization based in the Sub-Traditional Authority Chisinga area, Kasungu North-West to run school clubs. In 2008, CRIDOC was contracted by the Young Advocates for the Advancement of ICT-related Development (YAAICT-D) to train young para-legal volunteers in advocacy and community development in Kasungu. We have also been implementing capacity building initiatives in the management of community resource centres/libraries for selected youth groups in the district, namely T/A Chulu and T/A Kaluluma.

4. Mzimba
Apart from runinng school clubs, CRIDOC also partners with the Tujipereke Youth Club, situated in Mzimba South. The club was formed upon realisation of high rates of school drop-outs and absentism, most of whom were found selling merchandise and in video show rooms during school time. The club exists to promote the rights of children on education; to provide counseling to children on HIV and AIDS, and to promote early childhood development.

5. Mwanza
In Mwanza, CRIDOC partnered with the Association for Progressive Women (APW) through an MoU that was signed between the two organisations. Through the MoU, APW has engaged volunteers to manage school clubs at Mphande and Tsenga Primary Schools.

6. Dedza
Child Rights Advocacy & Paralegal Aid Centre (CRAPAC) to protect and promote human rights by implementing programmes on Child rights awareness, Child labour and trafficking, Access to justice, Rule of law, HIV and AIDS, Gender Based Violence and Alternative Dispute Resolution. CRAPAC is also our focal point in our school outreach program, establishing and facilitating school clubs in primary schools within the district.

7. Salima
CRIDOC carried out a two-day fact-finding consultation in Salima District as a follow-up to the “Survey on Adolescent Commercial Sex Workers in Malawi – A Case Study of Mzuzu and Salima,” which was conducted by Centre for Human Rights and Rehabilitation (CHRR) in July 1998. The aim of the CRIDOC’s consultations was to make a follow-up on the extent, magnitude of child prostitution in the district since 1998, and the number (and impact) of projects/initiatives that had been put in place as interventions to address some of the fundamental findings/challenges of the earlier survey. CRIDOC intends to implement a project that will address the challenges related to the child prostitution in the district.
