CRIDOC At Swaziland Peoples' Summit 2016
Swaziland Peoples SummitCRIDOC Director and Youth Act Alliance National Coordinator, Edward Phiri, made a solidarity speech on behalf of Malawi delegation during the Peoples' Summit 2016 held in Manzini, Swaziland, prior to the Heads of State Summit. His speech centred on ending child marriages in accordance with SADC model law; youth employment and empowerment based on the African Youth Charter; and tax justice. He further called on the Peoples' Summit to ensure that issues of youth and children were prominently featured in the communiqué as a sub-theme; ensure that the summit also developed a road map for easy follow up of issues rather than coming up with new issues every year, as the 2015 issues remained unsolved. Edward was also invited to be a panellist at ZIMRIGHTS break away session on governance, as youth representative. read in full»
