OUR PROGRAMMES AND ACTIVITIES

cridoc workshop
The Child Rights Information and Documentation Centre (CRIDOC) exists to create access to information on issues pertaining to the rights and development of children and young people in Malawi using various communication channels and strategies. Our strategy has been the identification of key focused programme areas where we implement activities aimed at achieving our goals and mission.

CRIDOC has so far been involved in a number of activities, which has made it acquire significant amount of capacity to continue working in the area of youth and child rights and development using various approaches, including volunteerism.

The five core thematic programme areas which CRIDOC has so far used to implement a number of its activities include:

     --------------------------------------------------------------
     (i) School Outreach Programme»
     --------------------------------------------------------------
(ii) Documentation and Information Management Programme»
     --------------------------------------------------------------
     (iii) Research and Monitoring»
     --------------------------------------------------------------
(iv) Training, Capacity Building and Networking»
     --------------------------------------------------------------
     (v) IEC & Media Advocacy»
     --------------------------------------------------------------

CRIDOC is not only about Research, Documentation, Training or Media Advocacy. These are just defining/core activities as a combined strategy to achieve the organization's mission, goals and objectives. Inspired by core principles of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), CRIDOC also attempts to mainstream certain cross-cutting activities that create opportunities for (or promote) child participation through inclusion of child voices in mainstream life.

For example, CRIDOC will provide “informal” Internet lessons to school going children who have been registered with the CRIDOC Resource Centre through their school clubs. We will use the opportunity to promote the Online Resource on Child Rights manual, which serves as a guide to getting the right information on child rights issues from the Internet.

The centre will also work on projects that bring in new technologies that would be of assistance to the media, researchers and other stakeholders, including the children themselves, in the work of of child research and advocacy. In particular, we shall endeavour to ensure that the organization's virtual library (e-Library) is regularly updated to make it as resourceful, as helpful, and as relevant as possible.
